The Gothic structure which takes its origin in the
Renaissance was modifi ed in the18th century, maybe on a project by Vincenzo Scapitta. The façade is extremely refi ned,with wide stuccoed windows; the balcony is supported by lion feet and embellished with a railing of wrought iron.
On the façade there are the lovely remainders of the older elegant cotto decorations of the pointed arches. The room vaults are decorated with stuccos and frescoes: the ceiling of the ball room was frescoed by Pietro Francesco Guala,
with an allegory of the Arts. The scenographic effect of the courtyard, framed by the big portico columns, is wonderful.
