EQUESTRIAN MONUMENT TO CARLO ALBERTO
Piazza Mazzini
The municipal administration committed the equestrian monument of the Savoy King to the sculptor Abbondio Sangiorgio (1798–1879). It was meant as a tangible thanks for choosing the town as the seat of the Second Court of Appeal in Piedmont in 1838 and for the construction
of the fi rst bridge over the Po. The project of the stone basement is attributed to the polyhedric artist Pelagio Pelagi from Bologna
(1775-1860).
