MAGNOCAVALLI PALACE
Via Mameli 14 – Present seat of the civic offices
Monday-Friday 9.00 am -6.00 pm
Opening of the courtyard.
The beginning of the reconstruction works of the palace was commissioned by the architect Francesco Ottavio Magnocavalli in 1732 to the master builder Giacomo Zanetti whose work in other important buildings in Casale (Santa Caterina, Treville Palace, Grisella Palace, Saint Peter Apostle ‘s Church) is recorded in some documents.
The portal made in stone is perhaps attributable to Benedetto Alfieri, present in Casale in 1736;
the balustrade of the balcony was made by the marble workers Pelegatta from Viggiù. The entrance hall, marked by columns, opens on a courtyard bordered, on the west side, by a wing built in the second half of the 18th century.
The great staircase, which develops around two columns, is especially beautiful for its monumental effect, despite being built in a narrow space; the space is lightened by mirrored windows and decorated with stuccos.
The fresco of the vault is attributed to Bartolomeo Rusca. At the beginning of the staircase there is a wooden statue made by Gerolamo Lurasco known as “Grison” dated 1737.
