Considered one of Francesco Ottavio Magnocavalli’s jewels, the church was built by the “Confraternita dei Disciplinanti” who organized the Entierro procession on Holy Friday accompanyingthe effi gy of Christ and of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Begun in 1723, the church was completed the following century by the architect Giovanni Formiglia. The Greek-crossed interior is huge. High behind the altar, we can admire the Crucifix and on the altar on the right the wooden statue of “Our Lady of Sorrows” (Addolorata), sculptures attributed to Felice Cassina (1652-after 1700).
