The church of the Dominican nuns, built by Giacomo
Zanetti on a project by Giovanni Battista Scapitta (1653-1715), was consecrated in 1726. The façade, lightly curvilinear, formed by pilasters and columns, is articulated in levels by jutting out cornices and culminates with a moulded fronton. Stucco acanthus leaves decorate the two levels of the façade behind which the tambour rises. The dome with a lantern completes the church.
The interior, dominated by the vertical space of the tambour ellipse and lightened by shaped windows, is entirely frescoed. Up to the cornice it was painted by Giovanni Carlo Aliberti (1670- 1727) with representations of Saints and Allegories of the Virtues, while the tambour and the Dome were painted by Benaschi and Vittore, not very famous artists.
The statue of Our Lady of the Assumption placed on the major altar, was made by the sculptor Giovan Battista Bernero in 1780.
